45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Members of Leadership Gainesville are visiting the
67 State Capitol on February 13, 2019, and this occasion provides a
78 fitting opportunity to honor this esteemed organization and the
89 town it represents; and
910 WHEREAS, Leadership Gainesville was established in 1989 to
1011 seek out and train well-informed, civic-minded individuals who are
1112 interested in holding voluntary positions of responsibility in the
1213 community; sponsored by the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce,
1314 the group includes members from a variety of backgrounds, as well as
1415 persons of different ages; and
1516 WHEREAS, The current class is composed of 20 distinguished
1617 local residents: Betty Pratt, Brant Myres-Schroeder, Brittenie
1718 Polk, Cassandra Goins, Cory Enderby, Dan Doss, David Glancy, Janice
1819 Hill, Jeffrey Stevens, Jessica Bullock, John Richard Jamieson,
1920 Larina Friend, Marinda Martin, Matilin Rigsby, Matthew Myers,
2021 Mattie Sherwin, Reagan Lynch, Shala Dennis, Morgan Moore, and
2122 Parker Preston; and
2223 WHEREAS, Gainesville has earned a reputation for offering a
2324 high quality of life in a small-town setting; designated as a Medal
2425 of Honor Host City and named Most Patriotic Small Town in America by
2526 USA Today and Rand McNally, the community is known for its historic
2627 homes, the Morton Museum, the beautifully restored courthouse, and
2728 the downtown business district; also recognized for its friendly,
2829 welcoming residents, Gainesville has been dubbed "the Front Porch
2930 to Texas"; and
3031 WHEREAS, Leadership Gainesville is promoting the spirit of
3132 volunteerism and hometown pride that are defining characteristics
3233 of Gainesville, and by fostering an informed and engaged citizenry,
3334 the program is helping to build a brighter and more prosperous
3435 future for the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
3536 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
3637 Legislature hereby welcome members of Leadership Gainesville to the
3738 State Capitol and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued
3839 success; and, be it further
3940 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4041 prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas
4142 House of Representatives.
