| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Fort Worth Herd is celebrating the 20th |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The first modern cattle drive took place on the City |

| 8 | 9 | | of Fort Worth's 150th anniversary on June 12, 1999; what began as a |

| 9 | 10 | | seasonal operation has since evolved into a twice-daily drive |

| 10 | 11 | | through the Fort Worth Stockyards, honoring the historical drovers |

| 11 | 12 | | of the Chisholm Trail who moved longhorns up the trail after the |

| 12 | 13 | | Civil War; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Ably led by trail boss Kristin Jaworski, the Fort |

| 14 | 15 | | Worth Herd is a nonprofit managed by the Visit Fort Worth |

| 15 | 16 | | organization; the Herd cares for 21 donated longhorn steers, |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | including 16 for the cattle drive and 5 show steers; this |

| 17 | 18 | | seven-days-a-week operation employs between 15 and 20 individuals; |

|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Over the past two decades, the Herd has attracted |

| 20 | 21 | | countless tourists from around the world to the Fort Worth area; |

| 21 | 22 | | moreover, thousands of students have benefited from the Herd's |

| 22 | 23 | | education program, which includes tours through the stockyards and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame, as well as an engaging and |

| 24 | 25 | | informative interactive demonstration; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, The cattle drive occupies a central place in the |

| 26 | 27 | | history of the Lone Star State, and the Fort Worth Herd provides |

| 27 | 28 | | locals and visitors alike with a unique glimpse of the Old West that |

| 28 | 29 | | is both educational and entertaining; now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

| 30 | 31 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the Fort Worth Herd on its 20th |
