45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Terry G. McCoy of Austin is retiring from the Texas
67 Department of Transportation on May 31, 2019, drawing to a close an
78 outstanding career with the agency that has spanned more than three
89 decades; and
910 WHEREAS, The son of a TxDOT career employee, Terry McCoy
1011 first joined the department while he was still in school, working
1112 during the summers in the Burnet Resident Engineer's Office; after
1213 graduating from Texas A&M University in 1988, he accepted a
1314 position with the department as an engineering assistant in the
1415 newly formed Austin District South Travis area office; four years
1516 later, he was selected to participate in the TxDOT Master's
1617 Program, and he earned a master's degree in civil engineering from
1718 The University of Texas in 1993; and
1819 WHEREAS, Mr. McCoy subsequently worked in the geometric
1920 design section of the agency's design division and then served as
2021 design engineer for the New Braunfels area office in the San Antonio
2122 District; in 2002, he returned to the Austin District as Burnet area
2223 engineer, and he later held the roles of North Travis area engineer
2324 and director of transportation, planning, and development before
2425 retiring as deputy district engineer in 2015; he rejoined the
2526 department in January 2016, and since that time, he has served as
2627 Austin District engineer; his honors include the 2013 Luther
2728 DeBerry Award as well as the 2018 Man of the Year Award from the
2829 Heart of Texas WTS Chapter; and
2930 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. McCoy enjoys the love and
3031 support of his wife, Becky, and their two daughters, Hannah and
3132 Claire; and
3233 WHEREAS, Terry McCoy's dedication, professionalism, and
3334 commitment to excellence have greatly benefited his fellow Texans
3435 and earned him the respect and admiration of his peers, and he may
3536 indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent as he embarks on
3637 the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it
3738 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
3839 Legislature hereby congratulate Terry G. McCoy on his retirement
3940 from the Texas Department of Transportation and extend to him
4041 sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
4142 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4243 prepared for Mr. McCoy as an expression of high regard by the Texas
4344 House of Representatives.
