| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Terry G. McCoy of Austin is retiring from the Texas |

| 6 | 7 | | Department of Transportation on May 31, 2019, drawing to a close an |
|---|
| 7 | 8 | | outstanding career with the agency that has spanned more than three |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | decades; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The son of a TxDOT career employee, Terry McCoy |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | first joined the department while he was still in school, working |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | during the summers in the Burnet Resident Engineer's Office; after |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | graduating from Texas A&M University in 1988, he accepted a |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | position with the department as an engineering assistant in the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | newly formed Austin District South Travis area office; four years |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | later, he was selected to participate in the TxDOT Master's |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Program, and he earned a master's degree in civil engineering from |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | The University of Texas in 1993; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Mr. McCoy subsequently worked in the geometric |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | design section of the agency's design division and then served as |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | design engineer for the New Braunfels area office in the San Antonio |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | District; in 2002, he returned to the Austin District as Burnet area |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | engineer, and he later held the roles of North Travis area engineer |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | and director of transportation, planning, and development before |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | retiring as deputy district engineer in 2015; he rejoined the |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | department in January 2016, and since that time, he has served as |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Austin District engineer; his honors include the 2013 Luther |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | DeBerry Award as well as the 2018 Man of the Year Award from the |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | Heart of Texas WTS Chapter; and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. McCoy enjoys the love and |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | support of his wife, Becky, and their two daughters, Hannah and |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | Claire; and |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Terry McCoy's dedication, professionalism, and |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | commitment to excellence have greatly benefited his fellow Texans |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | and earned him the respect and admiration of his peers, and he may |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent as he embarks on |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it |

| 37 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

| 38 | 39 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Terry G. McCoy on his retirement |

| 39 | 40 | | from the Texas Department of Transportation and extend to him |

| 40 | 41 | | sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
