| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Max Simpson has been recognized by the Waxahachie |

| 6 | 7 | | Independent School District Board of Trustees with the naming of a |

| 7 | 8 | | new elementary school in his honor; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, This distinguished educator began teaching in 1958 |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | in Waco ISD; he served that district as a teacher and principal for |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | nearly a decade before going on to work for the Region XII Education |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Service Center for another three years; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Simpson joined Waxahachie ISD in 1970, and in |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | his role as an assistant superintendent, he was essential to the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | district's integration, helping to guide the merger of Turner and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Waxahachie High Schools; after more than two decades with the |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | district, he retired as the assistant superintendent of personnel |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | and instruction in 1991; he subsequently became the director of the |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | student teacher program for the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex at |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Baylor University; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Even after retiring from Waxahachie ISD, |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Mr. Simpson continued to support area students by serving on the |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | district's board of trustees from 2004 to 2011; in recognition of |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | his efforts, he was named an Outstanding Educator by the Waxahachie |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Ex-Students' Association in 2013; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Baylor University, Mr. Simpson holds |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | bachelor's degrees in history and education and a master's degree in |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | education; in all his endeavors, he has enjoyed the love and support |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | of his wife, Earlane, and he takes great pride in his three |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | children, Shannon, Megan, and Chrisanna, as well as his seven |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Max Simpson touched the lives of generations of |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | students during his tenure at Waxahachie ISD, and Max Simpson |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | Elementary School will serve as a lasting reminder of the positive |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | influence he has had on countless young Texans; now, therefore, be |

| 36 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

| 37 | 38 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Max Simpson on the naming of a |
