56 WHEREAS, Many individuals from Hunt County proudly served in
67 the Vietnam War, and these veterans deserve full recognition for
78 their courageous efforts in behalf of their fellow citizens during
89 one of the longest and most divisive conflicts in our nation's
910 history; and
1011 WHEREAS, More than three million members of the U.S. armed
1112 forces were deployed to Southeast Asia between the time of the
1213 passage of the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution in 1964 and the final
1314 withdrawal of American combat forces from Vietnam in 1973; and
1415 WHEREAS, Whether they enlisted or were drafted, members of
1516 the Hunt County community were among those who bravely served as the
1617 "boots on the ground" in Vietnam, and their contributions played an
1718 invaluable role in the war effort; and
1819 WHEREAS, Texans owe a profound debt of gratitude to those
1920 area residents who fulfilled the highest ideals of the U.S.
2021 military forces during the Vietnam War, and it is indeed
2122 appropriate to reflect on the immeasurable fortitude and valor they
2223 demonstrated while answering their nation's call to duty; now,
2324 therefore, be it

2626 Legislature hereby honor the Vietnam War veterans of Hunt County
2727 for their distinguished service and extend to them heartfelt
2828 appreciation for their exceptional commitment to the defense of our
2929 nation.
