 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Keyla Martinez has been named salutatorian of the
 Class of 2019 at Collegiate High School in Corpus Christi, and she
 indeed merits special recognition for receiving this significant
 honor; and
 WHEREAS, Earning the title of salutatorian requires not only
 intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the
 highest academic standards; in securing her place as one of the two
 top ranking students in her class, Ms. Martinez demonstrated a
 thorough understanding of a wide range of subjects, and her
 attainment of this coveted distinction is the crowning achievement
 of a notable high school career; and
 WHEREAS, The daughter of Marilu and Benigno Martinez,
 Ms. Martinez is graduating with both a diploma from Collegiate High
 School and an associate degree in liberal arts from Del Mar College;
 she has taken an active role in her campus community, participating
 in National History Day and representing the school's Culture Club
 at Culture Fest; moreover, she has interned with the Coastal Bend
 Blood Center and volunteered with Evans Chiropractic and The
 Cattery Cat Shelter; following her graduation, she plans to attend
 Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi to pursue a degree in nursing;
 and
 WHEREAS, During her years at Collegiate High, Keyla Martinez
 has earned the respect and admiration of both her teachers and
 classmates, and her exceptional scholastic ability and commitment
 to excellence have opened the way to a bright and promising future
 for this outstanding young Texan; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Keyla Martinez on graduating as
 salutatorian of the Collegiate High School Class of 2019 and extend
 to her sincere best wishes for continued success as she begins the
 next exciting chapter of her life; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Martinez as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
