| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Wellness Center for Older Adults in Plano is |

| 6 | 7 | | celebrating its 40th anniversary in June 2019; and |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Established in the late 1970s by a group of |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | concerned residents, the Wellness Center offers preventive health |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | care to Plano's older citizens; clinics were first held in the |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Lion's Club Community Center and later at West Plano Presbyterian |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Church; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Since 1984, the Plano Senior Center facility has |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | been the home base of the Wellness Center for Older Adults, which |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | now serves all of Collin County; operating five days a week, the |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | center provides a variety of services to individuals over the age of |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | 55 and their caregivers, including health screenings, counseling, |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | and social work assistance; the center also offers a series of |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | special education programs and hosts a number of activities that |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | cater to the diverse needs of seniors and their loved ones; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, The Wellness Center for Older Adults plays a |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | critical role in meeting the needs of area residents, and it is |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | fitting that this notable initiative be recognized for the valued |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | service it provides to the community; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Wellness |

| 26 | 27 | | Center for Older Adults in Plano and extend to all those associated |

| 27 | 28 | | with the organization sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it |
