No. 1609 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Family, friends, and colleagues will forever treasure their memories of Officer Rogelio Santander Jr. of the Dallas Police Department, who tragically lost his life on April 25, 2018, at the age of 27, from injuries sustained in the line of duty; and WHEREAS, Born in Dallas on February 26, 1991, Rogelio Santander Jr. was the son of Rogelio Santander Sr. and Julia Santander and the older brother of Chris Santander; deeply proud to be a member of the Dallas PD and the Northeast 3rd Watch Division, he enjoyed the camaraderie he shared with his fellow officers, and he set an outstanding example for them through his commitment to duty; and WHEREAS, Outside of work, Officer Santander maintained an active lifestyle and could often be found playing basketball, soccer, or golf; above all else, he cherished the time he spent with his family; and WHEREAS, Although the passing of this courageous and dedicated young officer is a profound loss to his community, Rogelio Santander left behind a record of public service that will forever inspire all those who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Officer Rogelio Santander Jr. and extend heartfelt condolences to the members of his family: to his parents, Rogelio Santander Sr. and Julia Santander; to his brother, Chris Santander; to his grandfather, Ignacio Garcia; to his girlfriend, Jennifer Rivera; and to his other relatives, his friends, and his brothers and sisters on the force; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Rogelio Santander.
