5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Larry Parks of Rockwall received a 50-Year Banker |

6 | 7 | | Award at the Texas Bankers Association 135th Annual Convention, |

7 | 8 | | which was held in Austin on May 3, 2019; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Parks began his banking career in 1969 as a |
---|
9 | 10 | | part-time bookkeeper, teller, and cashier assistant at First |
---|
10 | 11 | | National Bank in Memphis; he then went to work for the |
---|
11 | 12 | | U.S. Department of the Treasury under the division of the Office of |
---|
12 | 13 | | the Comptroller of the Currency between 1970 and 1972, before |
---|
13 | 14 | | returning to First National to serve as an assistant vice |
---|
14 | 15 | | president; in 1981, he was promoted to president and chief |
---|
15 | 16 | | executive officer, and he continued in that capacity until the bank |
---|
16 | 17 | | was sold in 1983; during the following years, he served as president |
---|
17 | 18 | | of both First State Bank of Rockwall and Citizens State Bank in |
---|
18 | 19 | | Royse City; in December 1989, he became senior vice president of |
---|
19 | 20 | | American National Bank of Texas, where he remained until his |
---|
20 | 21 | | retirement in 2017, and today he continues to serve the institution |
---|
21 | 22 | | as a member of its board; and |
---|
22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Engaged in his community, Mr. Parks has been |

23 | 24 | | involved in a number of civic organizations as well, including |
---|
24 | 25 | | Rockwall Noon Rotary, the Rockwall Chamber of Commerce, and the |
---|
25 | 26 | | Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Dallas; he holds a bachelor's |
---|
26 | 27 | | degree in business administration from The University of Texas at |
---|
27 | 28 | | Austin, and he attended the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking |
---|
28 | 29 | | at Southern Methodist University; and |
---|
29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Through his hard work and able leadership, Larry |

30 | 31 | | Parks has made an invaluable contribution to the banking industry |
---|
31 | 32 | | in the Lone Star State, and this award is a fitting tribute to his |

32 | 33 | | outstanding career; now, therefore, be it |

33 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

34 | 35 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Larry Parks on receiving a 50-Year |

35 | 36 | | Banker Award from the Texas Bankers Association and extend to him |
