| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Ashley Rivera has been named the 2019 Area 1 |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A solid education is vital for young people to |

| 9 | 10 | | become successful and productive adults, and those men and women |

| 10 | 11 | | who dedicate their careers to teaching make a positive difference |

| 11 | 12 | | in the lives of their students and in the greater community; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, In her role as chair of the special education |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | department at Blazier Elementary School, Ms. Rivera has worked |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | tirelessly to promote community and school collaboration and to |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | help her students achieve independence, drawing on her background |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | in clinical behavioral therapy; now in her third year of teaching, |

| 17 | 18 | | she was recognized as a 2016-2017 Teacher of Promise during her |

| 18 | 19 | | first year on the job; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Ashley Rivera exemplifies the passion, |

| 20 | 21 | | determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our |

| 21 | 22 | | best educators, and she has set a standard of excellence to which |

| 22 | 23 | | all in her profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it |

| 23 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

| 24 | 25 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Ashley Rivera on her selection as |
