| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Connie Colston of Waxahachie retired from the |

| 6 | 7 | | Nicholas P. Sims Library in January 2019, drawing to a close a |

| 7 | 8 | | distinguished tenure that spanned 24 years; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Waxahachie High School, Ms. Colston |

| 9 | 10 | | was initially hired as the children's librarian before |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | transitioning into the role of young adult librarian; over the |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | course of her career, she established a welcoming atmosphere at the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | institution by creating volunteer opportunities for teenagers and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | by organizing an annual summer carnival for the public; |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | furthermore, she founded the "Teen Lair," a separate section of the |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | library that serves as a sanctuary for visitors between the ages of |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | 12 and 18; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, A beloved member of the community, Ms. Colston |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | developed meaningful relationships with many of the families that |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | frequented the library; she delighted in sharing her passion for |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | books with local students, and she enjoyed passing down an |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | appreciation for library services to younger generations; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Connie Colston's dedication, professionalism, and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the patrons of the |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Nicholas P. Sims Library while earning her the respect and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | admiration of her colleagues, and she may indeed reflect with pride |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | on a career well spent as she embarks on the next exciting chapter |

| 27 | 28 | | of her life; now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

| 29 | 30 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Connie Colston on her retirement |
