45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The family and friends of Kenneth James Hayes of
67 Malakoff suffered an immeasurable loss with his death in November
78 2018 at the age of 60; and
89 WHEREAS, The son of Kermitt Hayes and Olene Thomas, Ken Hayes
910 was born in Dallas on August 9, 1958, and he grew up in western
1011 Henderson County with three siblings, Jimmy, Karl, and Pamela; he
1112 worked for Texas Utilities Mining near Fairfield for nearly a
1213 quarter century before returning to Henderson County in the late
1314 1990s to found and operate Hayes & Company Custom Homes; and
1415 WHEREAS, Mr. Hayes ably served his fellow citizens as
1516 Henderson County Commissioner for Precinct No. 1 from his
1617 inauguration in 2017 until his passing; his extensive record of
1718 public service further included his positions on the boards of the
1819 Henderson County Fair, Post Oak Cemetery, Trinity-Neches Soil and
1920 Water Conservation District, and Henderson County Livestock Show,
2021 as well as his membership on the Malakoff Independent School
2122 District school board, Go Texan Scholarship Committee, and the
2223 Henderson County Heifer Committee; moreover, he was a valued
2324 congregant of the First Baptist Church of Malakoff; and
2425 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Hayes enjoyed the love and
2526 support of his wife, Joyce, and he took great pride in his children,
2627 Kristi, Josh, Jenni, and Katie; with the passing years he had the
2728 pleasure of seeing his family grow to include 10 grandchildren,
2829 Megan, Allie, Kyler, Paige, Kinleigh, Loden, Lukas, Seth, Ady, and
2930 Jace; and
3031 WHEREAS, While Ken Hayes's passing has deprived the Henderson
3132 County community of one of its most admired leaders, those he leaves
3233 behind will continue to find inspiration in his many
3334 accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
3435 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
3536 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Kenneth James Hayes
3637 and extend sincere sympathy to all who mourn his passing; and, be it
3738 further
3839 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3940 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4041 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ken Hayes.
