5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Saul Mendoza has ably served his fellow Texans as |

6 | 7 | | chief of staff in the office of State Representative James White |

7 | 8 | | during the 86th Legislature; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Since becoming a legislative employee, Mr. Mendoza |

9 | 10 | | has handled a wide variety of challenging tasks; he has provided |

10 | 11 | | vital leadership to Representative White's staff, overseeing the |
---|
11 | 12 | | Capitol, district, and House Corrections Committee offices while |
---|
12 | 13 | | also assisting with the member's legislative agenda and casework |
---|
13 | 14 | | for constituents in Tyler, Jasper, Newton, Hardin, and Polk |
---|
14 | 15 | | Counties; Mr. Mendoza worked for Representative White during three |
---|
15 | 16 | | previous regular sessions of the legislature, beginning as an |
---|
16 | 17 | | intern and aide during the 83rd Legislature and going on to become |
---|
17 | 18 | | legislative and communications director for the 84th Legislature; |
---|
18 | 19 | | during the 85th Legislature, he assumed his current role as the |
---|
19 | 20 | | representative's chief of staff; and |

20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, A native of Mexico, Mr. Mendoza moved to California |
---|
21 | 22 | | with his family before they settled in Lufkin, where he graduated |
---|
22 | 23 | | from high school magna cum laude in 2009; he studied Spanish |
---|
23 | 24 | | literature at The University of Texas at Austin, and even before he |
---|
24 | 25 | | graduated in 2012, he had already worked on the campaigns of |
---|
25 | 26 | | Representative James White and U.S. Senator Ted Cruz and served in |
---|
26 | 27 | | the office of Representative Jim Landtroop during the 82nd |
---|
27 | 28 | | Legislature; in the years since, he has contributed his time and |
---|
28 | 29 | | energy to FreedomWorks and the campaigns of State Senator Konni |
---|
29 | 30 | | Burton and Governor Greg Abbott; in 2014, he was proud to become a |
---|
30 | 31 | | naturalized citizen of the United States; and |

31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed public employee has performed his |

32 | 33 | | duties as chief of staff with skill and dedication, and he is indeed |

33 | 34 | | deserving of special recognition for his fine work; now, therefore, |
