| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Wells Branch Community Library has received a |

|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, On March 1, 2019, Donna Ingham will visit the |

| 9 | 10 | | library to share stories with a Lone Star State theme in celebration |

| 10 | 11 | | of Texas Independence Day; the program is part of the library's |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | First Friday initiative, which brings together performers from many |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | realms for the enjoyment of patrons of all ages; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The Wells Branch Community Library District was |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | established in 1998; initially run by volunteers, the library |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | operated out of a closet in the Wells Branch Methodist Church, and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | the collection consisted entirely of donations from the community |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | and other libraries nearby; the library opened its own |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | 2,700-square-foot space in Bratton Square the following year, and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | it launched a number of programs that continue today, including |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | public computer access, summer reading, and the Polar Express |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Pajamarama; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, In subsequent years, the library's holdings |

| 23 | 24 | | increased considerably; accordingly, it moved in 2003 to its |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | present location, which offers 16,000 square feet of space; the |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | library has also expanded its hours to serve residents seven days a |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | week, and it sponsors concerts, special presentations, book clubs, |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | and early literacy activities; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Wells Branch Community Library is dedicated to |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | enriching the lives of local residents, and the Texas Independence |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | Day event is sure to both educate and engage all those who attend; |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

| 33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Wells Branch Community Library on |
