| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Honorable Rodney W. Satterwhite is retiring as |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | judge of the 441st Judicial District Court of Midland County in |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | January 2019, concluding more than nine years of outstanding |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | service; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, An alumnus of Midland High School, Rodney |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Satterwhite earned his bachelor's degree from The University of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Texas before graduating from the UT School of Law in 1969; he served |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971 as chief military justice for the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 13th Support Brigade at Fort Hood and as a legal officer in Vietnam; |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | after returning to Midland, he practiced law for 38 years at |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Stubbeman, McRae, Sealy, Laughlin & Browder, Inc.; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Governor Rick Perry appointed Mr. Satterwhite as |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | judge of the newly created 441st District Court in 2009, and he was |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | reelected to the position in 2010 and 2014; a member of the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | International and Texas Associations of Defense Counsel, he also |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | serves as a Texas commissioner for the National Conference of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Commissioners on Uniform State Laws, and he was previously a member |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | of The University of Texas Chancellor's Council Executive |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Committee; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Engaged in his community, Judge Satterwhite has |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | served as a director of the United Way of Midland, as a campaign |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | chair for the Midland American Cancer Society, and as a community |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | advisor for the Junior League of Midland; in his leisure time, he |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | enjoys golfing and spending time with his six grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Judge Satterwhite has greatly benefited his fellow |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | citizens through his dedicated service to the 441st Judicial |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | District, and he may reflect with pride on his many contributions; |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the Honorable Rodney W. |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Satterwhite on his retirement as judge of the 441st Judicial |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | District Court and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; |
