| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The observance of State Lineman Appreciation Day on |

| 6 | 7 | | May 4, 2019, presents an ideal opportunity to recognize the |

| 7 | 8 | | hardworking men and women who construct and maintain the electrical |

| 8 | 9 | | infrastructure of Texas; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, All year long, at all times of the day and night, and |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | in all weather, these skilled and courageous professionals put |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | their lives at risk to ensure the safety and reliability of our |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | state's electrical grid; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, After storms, natural disasters, and other |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | catastrophic events, linemen often serve as first responders, |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | helping to make the scene safe for other public safety workers; |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | linemen frequently labor under dangerous conditions, far from their |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | families, and with little recognition; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The lineman profession is steeped in personal, |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | family, and professional tradition, as each generation passes down |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | to the next the skills necessary to keep thousands of volts of |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | electricity flowing through power lines without interruption; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, This vital work is essential to our economy, our |

| 23 | 24 | | security, and our way of life, and it is truly a privilege to honor |

| 24 | 25 | | the linemen of Texas at this time; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

| 26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby recognize May 4, 2019, as State Lineman |
