5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Richard Gilmore Lauderdale of Fort Worth passed away |

6 | 7 | | on March 15, 2019, at the age of 74, leaving behind a loving family |

7 | 8 | | and many dear friends to cherish his memory; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born in Fort Worth on January 2, 1945, to Dr. Thomas |
---|
9 | 10 | | Lauderdale and Margaret Lauderdale, Gilmore Lauderdale grew up with |
---|
10 | 11 | | the companionship of two brothers, Thomas and Caleb; he attended |
---|
11 | 12 | | military school and went on to graduate from R. L. Paschal High |
---|
12 | 13 | | School in 1962 before continuing his studies at Texas Christian |
---|
13 | 14 | | University; in 1968, he enlisted in the United States Army, and he |
---|
14 | 15 | | was deployed to Germany to serve during the Vietnam War; and |
---|
15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, After returning home to Fort Worth and Eagle |
---|
16 | 17 | | Mountain Lake, Mr. Lauderdale met and married Carol Godbey, with |
---|
17 | 18 | | whom he shared the joy of raising two children, Christopher and |
---|
18 | 19 | | Leigh Anne; he was actively involved in his children's lives and |
---|
19 | 20 | | supported them by coaching their soccer and basketball teams and |
---|
20 | 21 | | riding horses competitively with his daughter; no matter the |
---|
21 | 22 | | activity, he always made it his goal to instill in them morals, |
---|
22 | 23 | | values, and life lessons, and he served as a role model to them |
---|
23 | 24 | | through his generosity and compassion toward others; and |
---|
24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, An entrepreneur, Mr. Lauderdale decided to strike |
---|
25 | 26 | | out on his own after working for a time in the poultry business and |
---|
26 | 27 | | became the president, owner, and operator of Fort Worth Poultry & |
---|
27 | 28 | | Egg Company at the Fort Worth Stockyards; he enjoyed spending time |
---|
28 | 29 | | on the water, whether waterskiing competitively or sailing, and |
---|
29 | 30 | | this passion also led him to open the popular Lauderdale's on the |
---|
30 | 31 | | Lake and Shrimper's restaurants; and |
---|
31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Lauderdale led an adventurous life that |
---|
32 | 33 | | included motorcycle trips to Mexico, surfing in Costa Rica, and |
---|
33 | 34 | | scuba diving in the Bahamas; he also treasured the companionship of |
---|
34 | 35 | | a host of longtime friends and of his loyal golden retriever, |
---|
35 | 36 | | Handsome Sammy; moreover, he drew guidance and inspiration from his |
---|
36 | 37 | | faith and served as an active member of St. Anne's Episcopal |
---|
37 | 38 | | Church; and |
---|
38 | 39 | | WHEREAS, Gilmore Lauderdale made a positive impact in many |
---|
39 | 40 | | lives through his personal and professional achievements, and he |
---|
40 | 41 | | will forever be remembered with admiration and affection by those |
---|
41 | 42 | | who were fortunate enough to know him; now, therefore, be it |
---|
42 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
---|
43 | 44 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Richard Gilmore |

44 | 45 | | Lauderdale and extend sincere sympathy to his loved ones and |

45 | 46 | | friends; and, be it further |

46 | 47 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
