|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, On September 29, 2018, a 10-year-old girl from El |

| 10 | 10 | | Salvador who had a history of congenital heart defects perished of |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | fever and respiratory distress; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Seven-year-old Jakelin Caal Maquin died on December |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | 8, 2018, in El Paso of a bacterial infection; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Felipe Alonzo Gómez, age eight, died on Christmas |

| 15 | 15 | | Eve in El Paso from Influenza B and a bacterial infection; and |

| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, On April 30, 2019, Juan de León Gutiérrez, age 16, |

| 17 | 17 | | died in El Paso from a brain infection; and |

| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Two-year-old Wilmer Josué Ramírez Vázquez of |

| 19 | 19 | | Guatemala died in El Paso on May 14, after being diagnosed with |

| 20 | 20 | | pneumonia; and |

| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, At the Weslaco Border Patrol Station, 16-year-old |

| 22 | 22 | | Carlos Gregorio Hernandez Vazquez, who was diagnosed with Influenza |

| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, The United States has long been a beacon of liberty, |

| 25 | 25 | | justice, and opportunity, and the loss of these six young lives |

| 26 | 26 | | reminds us that our nation's ideals exert a powerful pull on those |

| 27 | 27 | | hoping for a better life; now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of the six migrant |

| 30 | 30 | | children who died in federal custody between September 2018 and May |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | 2019 and extend deepest condolences to all who mourn their passing. |
