| 8 | 9 | | ceremony on September 11, 2018; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, During the event, bricks commemorating the |

| 10 | 11 | | contributions of Mr. Faulkner and three other former Gainesville |

| 11 | 12 | | first responders were officially placed in the monument; in |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | addition to acknowledging the dedicated individuals who have served |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | with the department, both the memorial and the ceremony pay tribute |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | to all those who lost their lives during the 9/11 terrorist attacks; |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Faulkner served his community for 37 years as a |

| 17 | 18 | | volunteer with Gainesville Fire-Rescue from 1981 to 2018; he earned |

| 18 | 19 | | the admiration of his colleagues for his strong work ethic and drive |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | to help out wherever he was needed, which at times involved |

| 20 | 21 | | performing his firefighting duties late into the evening before |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | going to his regular day job the next morning; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Russell Faulkner's courage, commitment, and |

| 23 | 24 | | professionalism greatly benefited the people of Gainesville, and he |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | may take justifiable pride in his receipt of this heartfelt honor |

| 25 | 26 | | from his community; now, therefore, be it |
