| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Demonstrating great bravery and quick thinking, |

| 6 | 7 | | Dewayne Diggles intervened to stop an attack on a Silsbee police |

| 7 | 8 | | officer on January 26, 2019; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, In the early morning, Officer Justin Holt of the |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | Silsbee Police Department was called to the scene of a convenience |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | store where a man was behaving in an erratic and threatening manner; |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | when Officer Holt attempted to question him, the man suddenly |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | lunged and assaulted him; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Dewayne Diggles and two other bystanders |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | immediately rushed to Officer Holt's aid, and after a brief |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | struggle, they were able to pull the assailant away from the officer |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | and restrain him; after receiving medical care for his injuries, |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Officer Holt expressed gratitude to Mr. Diggles and the two other |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | men who risked their own safety in his behalf; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, By taking decisive action to assist an officer in |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | need, Dewayne Diggles helped to prevent a far worse outcome, and it |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | is indeed fitting that he be honored for his heroism; now, |

| 22 | 23 | | therefore, be it |

| 23 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

| 24 | 25 | | Legislature hereby commend Dewayne Diggles for providing |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | invaluable assistance to a Silsbee police officer and extend to him |

| 26 | 27 | | sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
