45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, A life devoted to family, faith, and country drew to
67 a close with the passing of Billy H. Miller of Georgetown on
78 December 1, 2018, at the age of 81; and
89 WHEREAS, Born in Georgetown on November 6, 1937, Bill Miller
910 was the son of Fritz and Lula Miller and the brother of two sisters,
1011 Ethel and Gretchen; after graduating from Georgetown High School in
1112 1956, he went on to enjoy a distinguished military career that
1213 included 40 years of service in the United States Air Force and Army
1314 and the Texas Army National Guard; he was a veteran of the Vietnam
1415 War and worked as an airplane and helicopter pilot as well as a
1516 flight instructor for the National Guard; in 1997, he retired from
1617 military duty with the rank of chief warrant officer 5; in
1718 recognition of his valorous efforts, he received numerous awards
1819 and commendations; and
1920 WHEREAS, Mr. Miller shared nearly six decades of marriage
2021 with his wife, Mary Ann Miller, whom he wed on June 20, 1959; they
2122 became the proud parents of three children, Sheila, Kevin, and
2223 Steve, and were further blessed with four grandchildren, Aaron,
2324 Ryan, Sara, and Ian; and
2425 WHEREAS, Active in his community of faith, Mr. Miller was a
2526 charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Georgetown, and he
2627 enjoyed serving the congregation as a trustee and helping out on
2728 various construction, lawn, and landscaping projects; he had a
2829 skill and passion for woodworking, a trade he learned from his
2930 father, and he shared his talents by crafting furniture for family
3031 and friends and building library shelves for local schools; and
3132 WHEREAS, Admired and cherished for his warmth, geniality, and
3233 good humor, Bill Miller will be deeply missed, and he will forever
3334 hold a special place in the hearts of those who were fortunate
3435 enough to know him; now, therefore, be it
3536 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
3637 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Billy H. Miller and
3738 extend sincere sympathy to his loved ones and friends; and, be it
3839 further
3940 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4041 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4142 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bill
4243 Miller.
