5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A life devoted to family, faith, and country drew to |

6 | 7 | | a close with the passing of Billy H. Miller of Georgetown on |

7 | 8 | | December 1, 2018, at the age of 81; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born in Georgetown on November 6, 1937, Bill Miller |
---|
9 | 10 | | was the son of Fritz and Lula Miller and the brother of two sisters, |
---|
10 | 11 | | Ethel and Gretchen; after graduating from Georgetown High School in |
---|
11 | 12 | | 1956, he went on to enjoy a distinguished military career that |
---|
12 | 13 | | included 40 years of service in the United States Air Force and Army |
---|
13 | 14 | | and the Texas Army National Guard; he was a veteran of the Vietnam |
---|
14 | 15 | | War and worked as an airplane and helicopter pilot as well as a |
---|
15 | 16 | | flight instructor for the National Guard; in 1997, he retired from |
---|
16 | 17 | | military duty with the rank of chief warrant officer 5; in |
---|
17 | 18 | | recognition of his valorous efforts, he received numerous awards |
---|
18 | 19 | | and commendations; and |
---|
19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Miller shared nearly six decades of marriage |
---|
20 | 21 | | with his wife, Mary Ann Miller, whom he wed on June 20, 1959; they |
---|
21 | 22 | | became the proud parents of three children, Sheila, Kevin, and |
---|
22 | 23 | | Steve, and were further blessed with four grandchildren, Aaron, |
---|
23 | 24 | | Ryan, Sara, and Ian; and |
---|
24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Active in his community of faith, Mr. Miller was a |
---|
25 | 26 | | charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Georgetown, and he |
---|
26 | 27 | | enjoyed serving the congregation as a trustee and helping out on |
---|
27 | 28 | | various construction, lawn, and landscaping projects; he had a |
---|
28 | 29 | | skill and passion for woodworking, a trade he learned from his |
---|
29 | 30 | | father, and he shared his talents by crafting furniture for family |
---|
30 | 31 | | and friends and building library shelves for local schools; and |
---|
31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Admired and cherished for his warmth, geniality, and |
---|
32 | 33 | | good humor, Bill Miller will be deeply missed, and he will forever |
---|
33 | 34 | | hold a special place in the hearts of those who were fortunate |
---|
34 | 35 | | enough to know him; now, therefore, be it |
---|
35 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

36 | 37 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Billy H. Miller and |

37 | 38 | | extend sincere sympathy to his loved ones and friends; and, be it |
