45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Marci Corry has dedicated herself to promoting safe
67 driving through her efforts as founder and CEO of SAFE 2 SAVE, a
78 mobile app that is rapidly gaining popularity in communities across
89 Texas; and
910 WHEREAS, Propelled to take action after learning about a
1011 fatal accident in College Station that involved texting and
1112 driving, Ms. Corry created SAFE 2 SAVE in October 2016 with the goal
1213 of using positive reinforcement to encourage drivers to stay off
1314 their phones; the app allows users who avoid distracted driving to
1415 earn points and redeem them for discounts at local businesses, and
1516 it also provides the opportunity for communities to engage in safe
1617 driving competitions with one another; and
1718 WHEREAS, In just two years, the app's user base has grown to
1819 more than 89,000 people, and plans are underway to expand across the
1920 entire state and go nationwide in 2019; along with the app,
2021 Ms. Corry oversees SAFE 2 SAVE's outreach initiatives that involve
2122 speaking about safe driving at schools, businesses, and
2223 organizations; and
2324 WHEREAS, By addressing the serious problem of distracted
2425 driving, Marci Corry has demonstrated an inspiring commitment to
2526 making our roadways safer; now, therefore, be it
2627 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
2728 Legislature hereby honor Marci Corry for her important work as
2829 founder and CEO of SAFE 2 SAVE and extend to her sincere best wishes
2930 for continued success with this endeavor; and, be it further
3031 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3132 prepared for Ms. Corry as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3233 House of Representatives.
