| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Distinguished citizens of Irving are gathering on |

| 6 | 7 | | February 20, 2019, to celebrate Irving Day at the State Capitol; and |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce is the |

| 8 | 9 | | first Five Star Chamber of Commerce in Texas and actively |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | represents the interests of the largest business park in North |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Texas; and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Irving began its period of rapid growth in the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | mid-20th century; the University of Dallas enrolled its first |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | students in 1956, and Irving Community Hospital began treating |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | patients in 1964; the creation of DFW International Airport and the |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | creation of Las Colinas and Valley Ranch master-planned residential |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | communities contributed further to the city's growth; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Today, with the first Five Star Chamber of Commerce |

| 18 | 19 | | in Texas and a population of approximately 240,000, Irving is the |

| 19 | 20 | | ninth most diverse city in the United States and is known as the |

| 20 | 21 | | "Headquarters of Headquarters" with more headquarters per capita |

| 21 | 22 | | than any other city in the nation; Irving is home to more than 8,500 |

| 22 | 23 | | companies, including seven Fortune 500 global headquarters: |

| 40 | 41 | | WHEREAS, Benefiting greatly from the farsighted leadership |

| 42 | 43 | | Meagher, David Palmer, Phil Riddle, Kyle Taylor, Oscar Ward, Dennis |

| 47 | 48 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

| 48 | 49 | | Legislature hereby recognize February 20, 2019, as Irving Day at |

| 50 | 51 | | city manager, corporate executives, chamber representatives, and |

| 51 | 52 | | other citizens present today a warm welcome to Austin. |
