45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Jaqueline Howell of Veterans Memorial High School in
67 Mission has distinguished herself as a talented athlete,
78 well-rounded student, and valued member of her community; and
89 WHEREAS, Ms. Howell has served as captain of the Veterans
910 Memorial volleyball and girls' basketball teams, helping to lead
1011 the volleyball squad to four undefeated district championships and
1112 the basketball team to three bi-district championships; in
1213 recognition of her fine play in volleyball, she has received three
1314 Most Valuable Player of the Year awards, and she was named to the
1415 2018 Texas Sports Writers Association All-State first volleyball
1516 team and the Rio Grande Valley All-Area first volleyball team;
1617 moreover, she was twice awarded the Most Valuable Defensive Player
1718 of the Year title for her contributions on the basketball court; and
1819 WHEREAS, In addition to her athletic accomplishments,
1920 Ms. Howell has been crowned her school's 2018-2019 homecoming
2021 queen; she has also excelled academically, earning a place in the
2122 top seven percent of her class and serving as a National Honor
2223 Society officer; active in her community, she has participated in
2324 toy, coat, and food drives at her school, mentored elementary
2425 students, and volunteered as a coach with the Boys and Girls Club
2526 and the Patriot team of the Texas Little Spikers Volleyball League;
2627 and
2728 WHEREAS, By demonstrating determination and perseverance in
2829 the pursuit of her goals, Jaqueline Howell has built a strong
2930 foundation for success, and she may take justifiable pride in her
3031 achievements as she looks forward to the challenges and
3132 opportunities that lie ahead; now, therefore, be it
3233 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
3334 Legislature hereby commend Jaqueline Howell for her athletic and
3435 academic accomplishments at Veterans Memorial High School and
3536 extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
3637 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3738 prepared for Ms. Howell as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3839 House of Representatives.
