| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Melina Justiss of Bowie was commissioned as a |

| 6 | 7 | | highway patrol trooper with her graduation from the 164th recruit |

| 7 | 8 | | school of the Texas Department of Public Safety on November 30, |

| 8 | 9 | | 2018; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, One of 92 recruits in the DPS B-2018 Class, |

| 10 | 11 | | Ms. Justiss began her training in June 2018; during her 26 weeks at |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | the academy, she received instruction in more than 100 subjects, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | including criminal law, arrest and control procedures, accident |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | reconstruction, and counterterrorism; she also underwent intensive |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | training in physical fitness, first aid, driving, firearms, and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Spanish; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Following her graduation, Ms. Justiss reported for |

| 17 | 18 | | duty at her posting in Midland, where she will complete six months |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | of on-the-job training before officially starting her career as a |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | state trooper; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Melina Justiss has distinguished herself through |

| 21 | 22 | | her hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence, and the |

| 22 | 23 | | knowledge and skills she has gained at the DPS Academy will be of |

| 23 | 24 | | great benefit in her service to her fellow Texans; now, therefore, |
