| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Jane Meyers has rendered exceptional service to her |

| 7 | 8 | | Gardens, which has spanned five decades; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Meyers began her work with what was known as |

| 9 | 10 | | the Amarillo Garden Center in 1969, bringing along her passions for |

| 10 | 11 | | gardening and people; in the years since, she has served the gardens |

| 11 | 12 | | in numerous capacities, including as a tour guide, teacher, and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | recruiter, and she guided the organization as director from 1979 to |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | 1992; in recognition of her unparalleled commitment to the center, |

| 14 | 15 | | a mosaic that adorns the entrance to the gardens was installed in |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | her honor in 2017, and that same year, she received an Amarillo |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Globe-News Headliner Award; and |

| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, In addition to her dedicated efforts in behalf of |

| 18 | 19 | | the Amarillo Botanical Gardens, Mrs. Meyers has shared her time and |

| 19 | 20 | | talents with a number of garden clubs; she has also held leadership |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | positions in the Widowed Persons Service club and has delivered for |

| 21 | 22 | | Meals on Wheels for some two decades, and she has been an active |

| 22 | 23 | | member of Hillside Christian Church; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, The Amarillo Botanical Gardens has been a source of |

| 24 | 25 | | enjoyment for countless area residents and visitors alike, and Jane |

| 25 | 26 | | Meyers has contributed immeasurably to the vitality of this natural |

| 26 | 27 | | oasis through her skilled and devoted stewardship; now, therefore, |

| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

| 29 | 30 | | Legislature hereby honor Jane Meyers for her 50 years of service to |
