45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Natalie Stephenson retired as the outdoor education
67 manager for the Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains on October 31,
78 2018, drawing to a close a long and fulfilling career with the Girl
89 Scouts that spanned 44 years; and
910 WHEREAS, A Pampa native, Ms. Stephenson began her
1011 involvement in scouting in the second grade and has been a stalwart
1112 supporter of the organization ever since; she joined the staff of
1213 the Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains after moving to Amarillo
1314 with her husband in 1974 and was elevated to the position of outdoor
1415 education manager six years later; in that role, she planned
1516 outdoor programs for the 82 counties GSTOP covers, as well as for
1617 the group's Texas camps, and she supervised a full-time staff at
1718 GSTOP's headquarters in Fort Worth; she also served as the resident
1819 director of Camp Kiwanis in Amarillo, which welcomes an average of
1920 500 scouts each summer; and
2021 WHEREAS, Throughout her affiliation with the Girl Scouts,
2122 Ms. Stephenson embraced the opportunity to mentor and nurture the
2223 talents of its members; her work involved organizing outdoor
2324 adventures such as horseback riding and swimming, and she enjoyed
2425 watching campers overcome their fears and push themselves to
2526 greater heights while forming friendships and making lasting
2627 memories; and
2728 WHEREAS, Through her dedication, skill, and undeniable
2829 passion for the Girl Scouts organization, Natalie Stephenson has
2930 helped make scouting a more rewarding and enriching experience for
3031 countless young women, and she may reflect with great pride on all
3132 that she has accomplished as she embarks on the next exciting
3233 chapter of her life; now, therefore, be it
3334 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
3435 Legislature hereby congratulate Natalie Stephenson on her
3536 retirement from the Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains and extend
3637 to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it
3738 further
3839 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3940 prepared for Ms. Stephenson as an expression of high regard by the
4041 Texas House of Representatives.
