45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The citizens of Pleasanton lost a beloved resident
67 and civic leader with the passing of the Honorable J. Taylor Brite
78 on January 8, 2019, at the age of 97; and
89 WHEREAS, The son of Thomas and Nora Brite, Taylor Brite was
910 born in San Antonio on October 27, 1921, and he grew up with the
1011 companionship of four siblings, Ralph, Bessie, Rita, and Iris;
1112 answering his nation's call to duty, he served in the Army Air
1213 Forces during World War II; and
1314 WHEREAS, Judge Brite began his exemplary 46-year career in
1415 public service in 1950, when he was elected Atascosa County
1516 attorney; he was appointed district attorney in 1960, and he went on
1617 to serve as judge of the 81st Judicial District in South Texas and
1718 as senior district judge for the State of Texas; active in his
1819 profession, he held the office of president of the Texas District &
1920 County Attorneys Association; and
2021 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Judge Brite enjoyed the love
2122 and support of his wife, Frances, with whom he shared a rewarding
2223 marriage that spanned 68 years until her passing; he took great
2324 pride in his children, Steve, Gary, Tom, and Patricia, and he had
2425 the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include 11 grandchildren,
2526 Chris, Matt, Jennifer, Amy, Emily, Kevin, Robert, Tara, Taylor,
2627 Alan, and Rachel, and 11 great-grandchildren, Ben, Annie, John,
2728 Will, Zachary, Mia, Liam, Owen, Graham, Henry, and Jemma; and
2829 WHEREAS, The loss of Taylor Brite is keenly felt by the
2930 numerous friends he made through the years as well as by the many
3031 people in Atascosa County and beyond whose lives he forever
3132 enriched; now, therefore, be it
3233 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
3334 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of the Honorable J.
3435 Taylor Brite and extend sincere sympathy to all who mourn his
3536 passing; and, be it further
3637 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3738 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3839 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of J. Taylor
3940 Brite.
