45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The Garland Scottish Rite Club has played an
67 important role in the local community for many decades, and its
78 efforts are indeed deserving of special recognition; and
89 WHEREAS, Since the early 1960s, the club has given
910 scholarships to students from the Garland Independent School
1011 District, awarding nearly $200,000 to well over 200 college-bound
1112 Texans over the years; the club has further supported public
1213 education through a recognition program for Garland ISD personnel;
1314 and
1415 WHEREAS, The Garland Scottish Rite Club is dedicated to
1516 helping those in need of medical care; it supports Hope Clinic
1617 Garland, and it hosts blood drives throughout the year for patients
1718 of the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, one of the
1819 nation's leading pediatric orthopedic hospitals, which provides
1920 treatment without regard to a family's ability to pay; and
2021 WHEREAS, The members of this noteworthy organization have
2122 demonstrated a profound commitment to the benevolent mission of the
2223 Scottish Rite of Freemasonry by following the principles of
2324 brotherly love, tolerance, charity, and truth, and their heartfelt
2425 contributions have made a positive difference in the lives of
2526 innumerable people in Garland and beyond; now, therefore, be it
2627 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
2728 Legislature hereby honor the Garland Scottish Rite Club and extend
2829 to the group's members sincere best wishes for continued success in
2930 all their endeavors; and, be it further
3031 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3132 prepared for the club as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3233 House of Representatives.
