17 | 17 | | positions for 18 years of his career, including tenures in |

18 | 18 | | Gatesville from 2000 to 2004 and in Mount Pleasant from 2005 to |

19 | 19 | | 2011; under his direction, Mount Pleasant became one of the first |

20 | 20 | | departments in the state to be credentialed by the Texas Police |

21 | 21 | | Chiefs Association as part of its Best Practices Recognition |

23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Chief Burch took the reins of the Denison Police |

24 | 24 | | Department in December 2011, and his major accomplishments have |

25 | 25 | | included overseeing the renovation of the police department and the |
---|
26 | 26 | | consolidation of police and fire dispatch into the police |
---|
27 | 27 | | headquarters; in 2018, he again had the honor of seeing his |
---|
28 | 28 | | department cited by the Best Practices Recognition Program, giving |
---|
29 | 29 | | him the distinction of being the only Texas police chief to guide |
---|
30 | 30 | | two agencies to that status; and |

31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, In retirement, Chief Burch plans to continue |

32 | 32 | | teaching, training, and working on organizational assessments |

33 | 33 | | while also spending more time with his treasured family; and |

34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Greatly admired by his colleagues for his skilled |

35 | 35 | | leadership, professionalism, and commitment to excellence, Jay |

36 | 36 | | Burch may indeed take great pride in all that he has done to protect |

37 | 37 | | and serve his fellow Texans as he embarks on the next exciting |
