5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Bruce D. Glasscock is retiring as city manager of |

6 | 7 | | Plano in April 2019, drawing to a close a career in public service |

7 | 8 | | that has spanned half a century; and |
---|
8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The former chief of police for Fort Collins, |
---|
9 | 10 | | Colorado, Mr. Glasscock accepted a position as chief of the Plano |
---|
10 | 11 | | Police Department in 1990; he subsequently served as Plano's deputy |
---|
11 | 12 | | city manager before his appointment as city manager in 2011; in that |
---|
12 | 13 | | role, he has supervised the operations of key departments such as |
---|
13 | 14 | | police, fire, emergency management, and health services in addition |
---|
14 | 15 | | to coordinating the City Council Strategic Plan and City Council |
---|
15 | 16 | | Community Outreach programs and overseeing the development of the |
---|
16 | 17 | | Legacy West area and the revitalization of downtown Plano; and |
---|
17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed public servant has further |
---|
18 | 19 | | contributed to his community as president of the Children's |
---|
19 | 20 | | Advocacy Center of Collin County and the Plano Rotary Club and as an |
---|
20 | 21 | | advisory board member of the Rape Crisis Center of Collin County; in |
---|
21 | 22 | | 2017 he was named the Business Executive of the Year by the Plano |
---|
22 | 23 | | Chamber of Commerce; and |
---|
23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Glasscock holds a bachelor's degree in criminal |
---|
24 | 25 | | justice administration from Metropolitan State University of |
---|
25 | 26 | | Denver and a master's degree in public administration from the |
---|
26 | 27 | | University of Colorado at Denver; in all his endeavors, he has |
---|
27 | 28 | | enjoyed the love and support of his wife, Memrie, and he takes great |
---|
28 | 29 | | pride in their two sons and three grandchildren; and |
---|
29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, A committed champion of his community, Bruce |
---|
30 | 31 | | Glasscock may reflect with pride on all that he has accomplished in |
---|
31 | 32 | | its behalf and take satisfaction in knowing that his contributions |
---|
32 | 33 | | will continue to benefit area Texans for years to come; now, |

33 | 34 | | therefore, be it |

34 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

35 | 36 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Bruce D. Glasscock on his |

36 | 37 | | retirement as Plano city manager and extend to him sincere best |
