8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of Elisha and Sara Bridges, Jim Bridges was |

9 | 10 | | born in Hereford on November 26, 1943, and he was the brother of 12 |

10 | 11 | | siblings, Les Lloyd, Juanita Faye, Joe Billie, Lois Lucille, Merl, |
---|
11 | 12 | | Earl, Frank A, Edwin Lee, Donald, Ronald, Betty Ruth, and Linda Kay; |
---|
12 | 13 | | as a young man, he answered his nation's call to duty and served in |
---|
13 | 14 | | the United States Army from 1963 to 1966; and |
---|
14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Following his military career, Mr. Bridges worked |
---|
15 | 16 | | for White's Auto Store in Texas City, and after moving to Amarillo, |
---|
16 | 17 | | he managed the Fountain Terrace Apartments for 25 years; a gifted |
---|
17 | 18 | | mechanic, he had a passion for building motorcycles and race cars, |
---|
18 | 19 | | and he later developed a skill for assembling computers; and |
---|
19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Bridges was married to Dixie Southworth, and he |
---|
20 | 21 | | took great pride in their daughter, Shalyn; a faithful member of |
---|
21 | 22 | | Christian Heritage Church, he was actively involved with children's |
---|
22 | 23 | | programs and the motorcycle ministry group, and he volunteered at a |
---|
23 | 24 | | soup kitchen serving the homeless; moreover, he was an ardent |
---|
24 | 25 | | supporter of military veterans; and |
---|
25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share in this treasured |
---|
26 | 27 | | man's love and friendship will always remember him with great |
---|
27 | 28 | | tenderness and affection; now, therefore, be it |

28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

29 | 30 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jimmie Ray Bridges and |

30 | 31 | | extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his |

31 | 32 | | daughter, Shalyn Bridges; to his sister, Betty Ruth Turner; to his |

32 | 33 | | brothers, Earl Bridges and Ronald Bridges; to his nieces and |
