| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |

| 6 | 7 | | passing of Edna Nell Burch Black on December 31, 2018, at the age of |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Georgia Winifred Cavender and Harry |

| 9 | 10 | | Louis Burch, the former Eddie Burch was born in Miami, Arizona, on |

| 10 | 11 | | July 24, 1928; her parents died when she was young, and she was then |

| 11 | 12 | | raised by her grandmother, Edna Hobbs Cavender; she and her sister, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Lorraine, grew up in the Hill Country town of Rio Frio with their |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | cousin, Edna; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Black later moved to El Paso, where she met the |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | love of her life, Jack Jennings Black; they married and became the |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | proud parents of five children, Winifred, Jackie, Roy, Joyce, and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Iris, and Mrs. Black devoted herself to her family and their home in |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | the lower valley of El Paso; well-suited to the role of rancher's |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | wife, she was an excellent horsewoman and faced the challenges of |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | rural life with grace and strength; she and Mr. Black shared nearly |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | five decades of marriage, and following his death in 1995, she |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | settled in Keller to be with her daughters; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, With the passing years, Mrs. Black knew the joy of |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | welcoming into her treasured family 20 grandchildren, Jack, Jim, |

| 25 | 26 | | Richard, Kira, Cameron, Carrie, Cristi, Chris, Patrick, Jessie, |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Jared, Royce, Jack, Jami, Danny, Tamara, Jerimy, Leah, Scott, and |

| 27 | 28 | | Todd, as well as 38 great-grandchildren and 7 |

| 28 | 29 | | great-great-grandchildren; and |

| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Although Eddie Black is deeply missed, those who |

| 30 | 31 | | held her dear will forever remember the kindness and love she |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | brought into their lives; now, therefore, be it |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

| 33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Edna Nell Burch Black |

| 34 | 35 | | and extend sincere sympathy to her loved ones; and, be it further |
