8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, One of Mexico's premier companies, Gruma has |

9 | 10 | | operated in the United States for more than four decades, and its |

10 | 11 | | U.S. subsidiary, Mission Foods, has been headquartered in the |
---|
11 | 12 | | Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex since 1998; the company has invested |
---|
12 | 13 | | more than $100 million in Texas in recent years, and its plants in |
---|
13 | 14 | | Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio employ more than 1,000 Texans; and |

14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, In 2016, Gruma-Mission Foods made a $4 million |

15 | 16 | | commitment to enable the establishment of the Mission Foods |
---|
16 | 17 | | Texas-Mexico Center at Southern Methodist University, and |

17 | 18 | | Mr. González Moreno serves as chair of its executive advisory |

18 | 19 | | board; the center furthers dialogue related to the economic, |
---|
19 | 20 | | political, and social ties between Mexico, Texas, and the United |
---|
20 | 21 | | States as a whole and promotes scholarly research on border issues, |

21 | 22 | | energy, human capital and education, migration, and trade and |

22 | 23 | | investment; moreover, its programs encourage the development of |

23 | 24 | | sound public policy and greater cross-border integration and |

24 | 25 | | cross-sector collaboration among academia, government, nonprofit |

26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Mr. González Moreno has also provided leadership in |

27 | 28 | | the development of social programs that support Hispanic |

28 | 29 | | communities in the United States; in 2017, he received the Good |

29 | 30 | | Neighbor Award from the United States Chamber of Commerce in |

30 | 31 | | recognition of his outstanding endeavors; and |

31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Mission Foods Texas-Mexico |
