| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |

| 6 | 7 | | of Ivan N. Jackson Sr. of Mexia, who passed away on October 24, |

| 7 | 8 | | 2018, at the age of 88; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of Arthur and Gladys Jackson, Ivan Jackson |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | was born in Mexia on April 6, 1930, and grew up with two siblings, |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | James and Pauline; and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson and his wife, Laura O. "Dolly" Jackson, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | wed in 1948, and they went on to share a rewarding marriage that |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | spanned 70 years; Mr. Jackson took great pride in their sons, Ivan |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | and Steve, and with the passing years, he had the pleasure of seeing |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | his family grow to include three grandchildren, Keith, Jennifer, |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | and Lance, and three great-grandchildren, Elliott, Blair, and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Kinsley; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Jackson |

| 19 | 20 | | joined the U.S. Air Force in 1952, and over the course of his four |

| 20 | 21 | | years of service, he was stationed in Iceland, New Mexico, and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Florida; after returning to civilian life, he moved with his wife to |

| 22 | 23 | | Houston, and in 1968, they settled in Mexia, where they owned and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | operated a store for half a century; originally known as White's |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Automotive Store, it became a Western Auto and is now known as |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Jackson's True Value; in his leisure time, Mr. Jackson enjoyed |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | hunting with his sons, traveling, and hosting family and friends at |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | his home; he was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, A warm, outgoing, and good-humored man, Ivan Jackson |

| 29 | 30 | | lived a rich and purposeful life, and he will be long remembered |

| 30 | 31 | | with deep affection by all who were fortunate enough to know him; |

| 31 | 32 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

| 33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Ivan N. Jackson Sr. |
