45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Christy Ann Jackson of Mexia passed away on November
67 1, 2018, at the age of 61, leaving her loved ones to treasure the
78 many happy memories they shared with her; and
89 WHEREAS, Born in Fort Worth on April 20, 1957, to Louise and
910 David McClurkan, the former Christy McClurkan grew up with the
1011 companionship of her twin sister, Cindy; a graduate of Mexia High
1112 School and a proud Black Cat, she went on to earn an associate
1213 degree in horticulture from Tarrant County Junior College before
1314 taking her first job at Maden's Flowers; and
1415 WHEREAS, On June 4, 1977, she exchanged wedding vows with the
1516 love of her life, Ivan Jackson Jr.; the couple went into business
1617 managing auto stores with her parents-in-law and later opened
1718 Jackson's True Value, a hardware store that grew to be one of the
1819 town's most popular retailers; along the way, her naturally
1920 outgoing disposition and desire to help people led to her
2021 involvement in numerous civic associations; and
2122 WHEREAS, Ms. Jackson was the devoted mother of a son, Lance,
2223 and she deeply cherished her daughter-in-law, Stephanie, and her
2324 grandson, Fletch; she and her husband enjoyed staying at their
2425 lodge in Tin Cup, Colorado, with their co-owner, Scott Mack, and
2526 they welcomed a number of friends and relatives as their guests
2627 there; passionate about gardening, she helped beautify the "Jackson
2728 Row" area in Forest Glade with plants and flowers, and she was also
2829 fond of fishing and watching sunsets and sunrises; among the many
2930 things that endeared her to everyone around her were her radiant
3031 smile and her hugs; and
3132 WHEREAS, Christy Jackson embraced life to the fullest, and
3233 those who were privileged to know her will forever remember her
3334 joyous spirit and her tremendous warmth, grace, and kindness; now,
3435 therefore, be it
3536 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
3637 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Christy Ann Jackson
3738 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
3839 husband, Ivan Jackson Jr.; to her son, Lance Jackson, and his wife,
3940 Stephanie; to her grandson, Elliott Fletcher Jackson; to her
4041 mother, Louise McClurkan McMains; to her sister, Cindy Williford,
4142 and her husband, Glenn; to her stepbrothers, Jimmy McMains and Mike
4243 McMains; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further
4344 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4445 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4546 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Christy Ann
4647 Jackson.
