| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Bill Houston is stepping down as mayor of Midlothian |

| 6 | 7 | | in May 2019, drawing to a close a distinguished tenure that spanned |

| 7 | 8 | | seven years; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, After serving on the Midlothian City Council for |

| 9 | 10 | | four years, Bill Houston was elected as the city's mayor in February |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | 2012; he later won reelection to that office in 2014 and again in |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | 2017; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, This dedicated civic leader has given generously of |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | his time and talents to the boards of the Midlothian Community |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Development Corporation, Baylor Scott & White Medical |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Center-Waxahachie, and the Best Southwest Partnership; a member of |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | the Lions Club and the Joe Barton Citizens Committee, he has also |

| 17 | 18 | | been active with Meals on Wheels and First Baptist Church in |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Midlothian; moreover, he completed the City of Midlothian Citizens |

| 19 | 20 | | Academy and the Midlothian Chamber of Commerce Leadership program, |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | which named him Alumni of the Year in 2012; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Mayor Houston is a licensed real estate agent who |

| 22 | 23 | | previously served as president of the Ellis Hill Association of |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Realtors; in all his endeavors, he has enjoyed the love and support |

| 24 | 25 | | of his wife, Debbie, and he takes great pride in their three |

| 25 | 26 | | children, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; and |

| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, A committed champion of his community, Bill Houston |

| 27 | 28 | | may reflect with pride on all that he has accomplished in its behalf |

| 28 | 29 | | and take satisfaction in knowing that his contributions will |

| 29 | 30 | | continue to benefit area Texans for years to come; now, therefore, |

| 31 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

| 32 | 33 | | Legislature hereby commend Bill Houston for his service as mayor of |
