| 8 | 9 | | Interscholastic League Wrestling State Tournament; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, "Lala" Perez began her high school wrestling career |

| 10 | 11 | | in spectacular fashion, capturing a state title as a freshman; she |

| 11 | 12 | | was defeated in the state final as a sophomore but returned to |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | championship form as a junior, besting Ashley Cook of Frisco |

| 13 | 14 | | Liberty High School to win the trophy in the 5A 148-pound |

| 14 | 15 | | classification in 2018; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Continuing her dominance as a senior, Ms. Perez |

| 16 | 17 | | prevailed at regionals to earn her fourth consecutive trip to the |

| 17 | 18 | | state tournament; joining the other top high school wrestlers at |

| 18 | 19 | | the Berry Center in Cypress on February 22 and 23, 2019, Ms. Perez |

| 19 | 20 | | pinned her first opponent in just 12 seconds; she then dispatched |

| 20 | 21 | | her next two competitors to set up a rematch with Ms. Cook, this |

| 21 | 22 | | time in the 5A 138-pound finale; Ms. Perez prevailed by a score of |

| 22 | 23 | | 2-0 and once more experienced the thrill of having the referee raise |

| 23 | 24 | | her arm in victory in a state title match; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, In the course of compiling her distinguished high |

| 25 | 26 | | school record of 152 wins and just 6 losses, Ms. Perez benefited |

| 26 | 27 | | from the guidance of her coach, Nicholas Hernandez, and of her |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | father and trainer, John Perez, who introduced his daughter to the |

| 28 | 29 | | sport at a young age; and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, By achieving the rare feat of winning three state |

| 30 | 31 | | wrestling championships, Adelyhda Perez has become a source of |

| 31 | 32 | | great pride to her school and community, and she will cherish the |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | memories of her outstanding accomplishments for the rest of her |
