45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Robert Virgil Gordon of Crosby passed away on March
67 3, 2019, at the age of 47, bringing a profound loss to all those who
78 loved and cherished him; and
89 WHEREAS, Born on December 8, 1971, to Margaret Davis and
910 Joseph Roland Gordon, Robert Gordon grew up with the companionship
1011 of three brothers, Mario, Benjamin, and Darin, and three sisters,
1112 Fantricia, Avryl, and Casey; after graduating from Crosby High
1213 School, he attended the Spartan College of Aeronautics and
1314 Technology and Rice Aviation and then enlisted in the United States
1415 Marine Corps; he embraced and embodied the Marine Corps values of
1516 honor, courage, and commitment, and on returning home from his
1617 military career, he distinguished himself as an employee of
1718 ExxonMobil for 21 years, which included service at the company's
1819 plants in Baytown and in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and
1920 WHEREAS, Mr. Gordon developed a strong work ethic at an early
2021 age, and this trait, coupled with his natural aptitude, helped him
2122 excel at nearly everything he turned his hand to; he was an avid
2223 outdoorsman with a passion for playing golf, deer hunting, fishing,
2324 calf roping, and going to the rodeo, and he was also a skilled
2425 mechanic, welder, and repairman; and
2526 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Gordon enjoyed the love
2627 and support of his wife, Shalantha; he was the caring father of five
2728 children, Raven, Jordan, Shelby, Chance, and Zavian, who preceded
2829 his father in death, and he was also blessed with a granddaughter,
2930 Azalea; and
3031 WHEREAS, Those fortunate to have known Robert Gordon will
3132 remember his zest for life and his unwavering devotion to those he
3233 loved, and they will forever treasure their memories of the time
3334 they spent in his company; now, therefore, be it
3435 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
3536 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Robert Virgil Gordon
3637 and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
3738 wife, Shalantha Gordon, to his children, Raven, Jordan, Shelby, and
3839 Chance Gordon; to his granddaughter, Azalea Bennett; to his mother,
3940 Margaret Davis; to his father, Joseph Roland Gordon, and his wife,
4041 Bernadine; to his brothers, Mario Gordon and his wife, Tracy, and
4142 Benjamin Davis and his wife, Nicole; to his sisters, Fantricia Rene
4243 and her husband, John, Avryl Gordon, and Casey Ciruti and her
4344 husband, Floyd; to his parents-in-law, Paula Bell and her husband,
4445 Johnny, and Andrew Couty Sr. and his wife, Stephanie; to his
4546 brother-in-law, Andrew Couty Jr.; to his grandmother, Rosie Espree
4647 Broussard; and to his other relatives, friends, and colleagues;
4748 and, be it further
4849 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4950 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
5051 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Robert
5152 Gordon.
