| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Roy Douglas Malonson and Shirley Ann Malonson |

| 7 | 8 | | Development, Inc., in Houston on December 31, 2018, and the |

| 8 | 9 | | conclusion of their service provides a fitting opportunity to |

| 9 | 10 | | recognize the myriad contributions of this esteemed couple; and |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Roy and Shirley Malonson founded what was initially |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | called the Acres Home Citizen Chamber of Commerce in 1994, and in |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | the subsequent 24 years, their able leadership of the organization |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | helped bolster many education, business, and civic initiatives in |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | the community; under their guidance, the chamber established the |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Acres Home Coalition Administrative School and was a driving force |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | behind Lone Star College's Victory Center, as well as the magnet |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | programs for the Aldine Independent School District; moreover, |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | their work with the chamber was instrumental in the creation of the |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Acres Homes Multi-Service Center and the Acres Homes Police |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Station; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Highly respected business leaders, Mr. and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Mrs. Malonson are the founders of African-American News & Issues |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | and Shirley Ann Black Kolectables & Flowers Shop; in addition, they |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | have operated ranches in Harris and Waller Counties, and they have |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | purchased and overseen numerous Domino's Pizza franchises; and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, In retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Malonson plan to |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | continue their philanthropic efforts and to spend more time with |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | their cherished family, which includes their daughter, Melanie |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | Nicole Malonson, and their two grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Our communities draw immeasurable strength from |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | individuals such as Roy and Shirley Malonson, whose tireless work |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | in behalf of area citizens has contributed significantly to the |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | quality of life in Houston; now, therefore, be it |

| 34 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

| 35 | 36 | | Legislature hereby commend Roy and Shirley Malonson for their many |

| 36 | 37 | | years of service to the Acres Home Chamber for Business and Economic |

| 37 | 38 | | Development, Inc., and extend to them sincere best wishes for the |
