| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Country singer and Idalou native Josh Abbott has |

| 7 | 8 | | he has also won the hearts of countless fans through his outstanding |

| 8 | 9 | | generosity in behalf of his fellow Texans in need; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Josh Abbott was among the many selfless volunteers |

| 10 | 11 | | who offered vital support to residents of the Gulf Coast area who |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | were impacted by Hurricane Harvey; shortly after the devastating |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | storm made landfall on August 25, 2017, he traveled to Rockport, |

| 13 | 14 | | which sustained substantial damage from strong winds and heavy |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | rain; there, he served hot meals from Mac's Pit Barbecue & Catering, |

| 15 | 16 | | a food truck that Mr. Abbott owns along with Sergeant Clayton Rudd |

| 16 | 17 | | Sykes and Wesley Webb, to the bevy of first responders who were |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | assisting local hurricane victims in the coastal town; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Abbott is the lead vocalist for the Josh Abbott |

| 19 | 20 | | Band, which he founded while attending Texas Tech University; since |

| 20 | 21 | | releasing its first demo in 2007, the group has garnered success |

| 21 | 22 | | with hit singles "Taste," "Oh, Tonight," and "Touch," and they have |

| 22 | 23 | | frequently flaunted their Lone Star roots with songs such as "My |

| 23 | 24 | | Texas," "She's Like Texas," and "Deep in the Heart of Texas"; and |

| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, The Josh Abbott Band maintains a charity arm, JAB |

| 25 | 26 | | Cares, that raises money to benefit disaster recovery organizations |

| 26 | 27 | | by selling custom T-shirts emblazoned with the words "My Texas"; in |

| 27 | 28 | | 2018, JAB Cares donated $30,000 to help hurricane survivors who |

| 28 | 29 | | were still struggling to rebuild, and the total amount of funds the |

| 29 | 30 | | band has contributed to disaster relief now stands at more than |

| 30 | 31 | | $45,000; and |

| 31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, By sharing his time and resources during a crisis, |

| 32 | 33 | | Josh Abbott has set an inspiring example of goodwill to those in |

| 35 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
