45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Many lives were touched by the instinctive kindness
67 of Helen Leticia Luna of San Antonio, who passed away on January 3,
78 2018, at the age of 85; and
89 WHEREAS, A San Antonio native, Helen Luna was born to Dolores
910 Flores on September 24, 1932; she graduated from Thomas Jefferson
1011 High School in 1950, and five years later, she married Gregory Luna;
1112 the couple became the proud parents of four children, Leticia Ann,
1213 Delores, Gerard, and Gregory; and
1314 WHEREAS, Mrs. Luna devoted herself to her home and family,
1415 and her skillful management of the household allowed her husband to
1516 focus on completing his bachelor's and law degrees; after their
1617 children were grown, she provided invaluable support for his
1718 endeavors as a member of the Texas House of Representatives and
1819 Senate; she became active in many political and social groups and
1920 continued to give generously of her time and talents as an engaged
2021 citizen following Senator Luna's death in 1999; in recognition of
2122 her contributions, Gregory Luna Middle School named its National
2223 Junior Honor Society in her honor; and
2324 WHEREAS, Over the years, Mrs. Luna knew the joy of welcoming
2425 into her family four treasured grandchildren, Ariana, Sara, Sophie,
2526 and Gregory; she prepared incomparable meals for her family and had
2627 a tremendous gift for nurturing people, pets, and plants alike; and
2728 WHEREAS, Helen Luna set an inspiring example of dedication to
2829 her loved ones and to her community, and although she will be deeply
2930 missed, indelible memories of her grace, serenity, and bright
3031 spirit remain to comfort those she has left behind; now, therefore,
3132 be it
3233 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
3334 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Helen Leticia Luna and
3435 extend sincere condolences to all who mourn her passing; and, be it
3536 further
3637 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3738 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
3839 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Helen Luna.
