| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Many lives were touched by the instinctive kindness |

| 6 | 7 | | of Helen Leticia Luna of San Antonio, who passed away on January 3, |

| 7 | 8 | | 2018, at the age of 85; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A San Antonio native, Helen Luna was born to Dolores |

| 9 | 10 | | Flores on September 24, 1932; she graduated from Thomas Jefferson |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | High School in 1950, and five years later, she married Gregory Luna; |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | the couple became the proud parents of four children, Leticia Ann, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Delores, Gerard, and Gregory; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Luna devoted herself to her home and family, |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | and her skillful management of the household allowed her husband to |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | focus on completing his bachelor's and law degrees; after their |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | children were grown, she provided invaluable support for his |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | endeavors as a member of the Texas House of Representatives and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Senate; she became active in many political and social groups and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | continued to give generously of her time and talents as an engaged |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | citizen following Senator Luna's death in 1999; in recognition of |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | her contributions, Gregory Luna Middle School named its National |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Junior Honor Society in her honor; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, Mrs. Luna knew the joy of welcoming |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | into her family four treasured grandchildren, Ariana, Sara, Sophie, |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | and Gregory; she prepared incomparable meals for her family and had |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | a tremendous gift for nurturing people, pets, and plants alike; and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Helen Luna set an inspiring example of dedication to |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | her loved ones and to her community, and although she will be deeply |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | missed, indelible memories of her grace, serenity, and bright |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | spirit remain to comfort those she has left behind; now, therefore, |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

| 33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Helen Leticia Luna and |
