 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Jeff Wheatcraft of the Alamo Heights Independent
 School District has been named the 2019 Texas Teacher of the Year by
 the Texas Association of School Administrators; and
 WHEREAS, Established in 1969, the Texas Teacher of the Year
 Program recognizes excellence in classroom education and provides a
 forum to showcase the outstanding educators whose efforts have
 inspired their students, their colleagues, and the communities they
 serve; the Teacher of the Year award is the highest honor that can
 be bestowed upon an educator in the Lone Star State; Jeff Wheatcraft
 received the accolade after being selected as the 2019 Texas
 Secondary Teacher of the Year; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Wheatcraft currently teaches eighth-grade
 science at Alamo Heights Junior School, and he has dedicated the
 past four years to creating and leading the school's STEM program;
 by inviting all students to join and challenging them to tackle
 real-world problems, he has crafted a curriculum that is inclusive,
 stimulating, and rewarding; under his guidance, the program has
 grown beyond the confines of the classroom and has had a positive
 influence on the students involved as well as the overall school
 culture; he also works with the regional Education Service Center
 and volunteers his time as a mentor to other teachers; and
 WHEREAS, Prior to coming to Alamo Heights ISD in 2012,
 Mr. Wheatcraft taught at Kirby Middle School in the Judson
 Independent School District for six years; over the course of his
 career, he has received a number of honors, including Alamo Heights
 ISD Teacher of the Year, Region 20 Secondary Teacher of the Year,
 Principle Auto's Car-4-All-Seasons Teacher of the Year, and the
 2018 Trinity Prize for Excellence in Teaching; furthermore, he has
 twice been nominated for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in
 Mathematics and Science Teaching; and
 WHEREAS, Jeff Wheatcraft exemplifies the passion,
 determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our
 best teachers, and he has set a standard of excellence to which all
 in his profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Jeff Wheatcraft on his selection as
 the 2019 Texas Teacher of the Year and extend to him sincere best
 wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Wheatcraft as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
