45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Members of the 2018-2019 Superintendent's Student
67 Advisory Board for the Galena Park Independent School District are
78 visiting the State Capitol on January 22, 2019, and this occasion
89 offers a fitting opportunity to recognize the group for its
910 invaluable contributions to the district; and
1011 WHEREAS, Designed to foster student engagement and
1112 leadership, the advisory board consists of 25 young Texans from
1213 high schools across Galena Park ISD; its members were chosen to
1314 represent the district's student population by the principals of
1415 their respective campuses; and
1516 WHEREAS, The group advises the superintendent on issues
1617 related to student performance, safety and security, and dropout
1718 prevention; in addition to providing feedback, the board's members
1819 perform community service, create an education portfolio, and
1920 complete an annual book study; and
2021 WHEREAS, The members of the Superintendent's Student
2122 Advisory Board have demonstrated hard work, initiative, and an
2223 admirable commitment to making Galena Park ISD the best it can be,
2324 and they are setting an outstanding example for their peers; now,
2425 therefore, be it
2526 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
2627 Legislature hereby recognize the members of the 2018-2019 Galena
2728 Park ISD Superintendent's Student Advisory Board on the occasion of
2829 their visit to the State Capitol and extend to them sincere best
2930 wishes for success in all their future endeavors; and, be it further
3031 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3132 prepared for the board as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3233 House of Representatives.
