| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Members of the 2018-2019 Superintendent's Student |

| 6 | 7 | | Advisory Board for the Galena Park Independent School District are |

| 7 | 8 | | visiting the State Capitol on January 22, 2019, and this occasion |

| 8 | 9 | | offers a fitting opportunity to recognize the group for its |

| 9 | 10 | | invaluable contributions to the district; and |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Designed to foster student engagement and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | leadership, the advisory board consists of 25 young Texans from |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | high schools across Galena Park ISD; its members were chosen to |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | represent the district's student population by the principals of |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | their respective campuses; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The group advises the superintendent on issues |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | related to student performance, safety and security, and dropout |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | prevention; in addition to providing feedback, the board's members |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | perform community service, create an education portfolio, and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | complete an annual book study; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Superintendent's Student |

| 21 | 22 | | Advisory Board have demonstrated hard work, initiative, and an |

| 22 | 23 | | admirable commitment to making Galena Park ISD the best it can be, |

| 23 | 24 | | and they are setting an outstanding example for their peers; now, |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |

| 26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby recognize the members of the 2018-2019 Galena |
