9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Presented by the Lone Star Ballet company, Remember |

10 | 11 | | the Alamo is a unique combination of drama and ballet in which 10 |

11 | 12 | | actors and 30 dancers perform a faithful retelling of the siege of |
---|
12 | 13 | | the Alamo; Mr. Hill is the LSB's marketing and creative consultant, |

13 | 14 | | and through a yearlong process of research and writing, he crafted |
---|
14 | 15 | | the production's story and wrote 50 minutes of dramatic dialogue; |

16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The script was also specifically designed to present |

17 | 18 | | the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Texas history |

18 | 19 | | and social studies for grades four through seven; it was presented |

19 | 20 | | to students from 26 counties of the Panhandle at the Globe-News |

20 | 21 | | Center for the Performing Arts in Amarillo as the featured show of |

21 | 22 | | Window on a Wider World (WOWW), the center's educational arm; the |

22 | 23 | | production was performed again in Pampa at the MK Brown Memorial |

23 | 24 | | Auditorium, and more than 1,500 students were in attendance at both |

25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Hill's previous works for the LSB include last |

26 | 27 | | year's Lone Star Legends and Love Stories; this innovative |
---|
27 | 28 | | production likewise combines drama and dance as it portrays the |
---|
28 | 29 | | lives of five legendary couples from Texas history; and |
---|
29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, A longtime leader in the arts in the Panhandle, |
---|
30 | 31 | | Mr. Hill was an arts educator for many years, in both public and |
---|
31 | 32 | | private schools; he and his students repeatedly won awards from the |
---|
32 | 33 | | University Interscholastic League at the district, area, regional, |
---|
33 | 34 | | and state levels, and several of his former students have gone on to |
---|
34 | 35 | | success in the entertainment industry; in addition to his work as an |
---|
35 | 36 | | educator, playwright, and director, he has also served as a |
---|
36 | 37 | | speaker, talent coordinator, and voiceover performer, and since |
---|
37 | 38 | | 2013, he has owned and operated his own arts consultancy; and |
---|
38 | 39 | | WHEREAS, King Hill's distinctive artistic vision and his |
---|
39 | 40 | | passion for telling the stories of the Lone Star State have enriched |
---|
40 | 41 | | the cultural life of Amarillo and the Panhandle for many years, and |
---|
41 | 42 | | he may indeed take great pride in his achievements as he looks |
---|
42 | 43 | | forward to his next exciting project; now, therefore, be it |
---|
43 | 44 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
---|
44 | 45 | | Legislature hereby congratulate King Hill on the success of |
---|
45 | 46 | | Remember the Alamo and commend him for his contributions to the |
---|
46 | 47 | | performing arts in the Panhandle; and, be it further |
---|
47 | 48 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

48 | 49 | | prepared for Mr. Hill as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
---|
49 | 50 | | House of Representatives. |
