| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Heart Galleries of Texas are working to raise |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Heart Galleries are traveling exhibits that feature |

| 9 | 10 | | portraits and biographies of foster children from the local |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | community; the national model for the Heart Gallery originated with |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | the New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department in 2001, and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | it has since helped connect foster children with adoptive families |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | in a number of states and cities across the country; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The State of Texas has embraced this innovative |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | concept in recent years, and many community partners and adoption |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | agencies have come forward to assist the Texas Department of Family |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | and Protective Services in its efforts to promote the adoption of |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Texas children; Heart Galleries rely on a multitude of volunteers |

| 19 | 20 | | who lend their time and talents to this endeavor, as well as on |

| 20 | 21 | | community institutions, ranging from churches and libraries to |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | businesses and state agencies, that generously serve as host venues |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, The Heart Galleries of Texas are making a profound |

| 24 | 25 | | difference in the lives of countless children, as well as in the |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | lives of the families who choose to embark on the rewarding journey |

| 26 | 27 | | of opening their home to a young Texan in need; now, therefore, be |
