| 8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Chapter 55, Property Code, is amended by adding | |
| 10 | 10 | Section 55.0015 to read as follows: | |
| 11 | 11 | Sec. 55.0015. ADMISSION TO HOSPITAL. For purposes of this | |
| 12 | 12 | chapter, an injured individual is considered admitted to a hospital | |
| 13 | 13 | if the individual is allowed access to any department of the | |
| 14 | 14 | hospital for the provision of any treatment, care, or service to the | |
| 15 | 15 | individual. | |
| 16 | 16 | SECTION 2. The addition by this Act of Section 55.0015, | |
| 17 | 17 | Property Code, is intended to clarify rather than change the | |
| 18 | 18 | existing law. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 20 | 20 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 21 | 21 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 22 | 22 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 23 | 23 | Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
