4	6		AN ACT
5	7		relating to a statement presented in a criminal case by a victim,
6	8		close relative of a deceased victim, or guardian of a victim.
7	9		BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
8	10		SECTION 1. Section 1, Article 42.03, Code of Criminal
9	11		Procedure, is amended by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
10	12		(c) The court may not impose a limit on the number of
11	13		victims, close relatives, or guardians who may appear and present
12	14		statements under Subsection (b) unless the court finds that
13	15		additional statements would unreasonably delay the proceeding.
14	16		SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to a
15	17		defendant who is sentenced for an offense on or after the effective
16	18		date of this Act, regardless of whether the offense is committed
17	19		before, on, or after the effective date of this Act.
18	20		SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
