46 AN ACT
57 relating to a statement presented in a criminal case by a victim,
68 close relative of a deceased victim, or guardian of a victim.
79 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
810 SECTION 1. Section 1, Article 42.03, Code of Criminal
911 Procedure, is amended by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
1012 (c) The court may not impose a limit on the number of
1113 victims, close relatives, or guardians who may appear and present
1214 statements under Subsection (b) unless the court finds that
1315 additional statements would unreasonably delay the proceeding.
1416 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to a
1517 defendant who is sentenced for an offense on or after the effective
1618 date of this Act, regardless of whether the offense is committed
1719 before, on, or after the effective date of this Act.
1820 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
