| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 552, Government Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 552.0222 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 552.0222. DATES OF BIRTH. Notwithstanding Section | |
| 13 | 13 | 552.101, this chapter does not authorize a governmental body to | |
| 14 | 14 | withhold a date of birth except as: | |
| 15 | 15 | (1) permitted by Section 552.102; or | |
| 16 | 16 | (2) otherwise provided by constitutional or statutory | |
| 17 | 17 | law. | |
| 18 | 18 | SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to | |
| 19 | 19 | a request for information that is received by a governmental body or | |
| 20 | 20 | an officer for public information on or after the effective date of | |
| 21 | 21 | this Act. A request for information that was received before the | |
| 22 | 22 | effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the | |
| 23 | 23 | date the request was received, and the former law is continued in | |
| 24 | 24 | effect for that purpose. | |
| 25 | 25 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 26 | 26 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 27 | 27 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 28 | 28 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 29 | 29 | Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
