44 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
55 AN ACT
66 relating to the authority of an appraisal district to use public
77 money for lobbying activity.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 305.026, Government Code, is amended by
1010 adding Subsection (c-1) to read as follows:
1111 (c-1) Notwithstanding any other provision of this section,
1212 an appraisal district may not use public money to directly or
1313 indirectly influence or attempt to influence the passage or defeat
1414 of any legislation pending before the legislature. This subsection
1515 does not prevent an appraisal district employee from providing
1616 information for a member of the legislature or appearing before a
1717 legislative committee at the request of the committee or the member
1818 of the legislature.
1919 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
